We have an immediate need for an Archaeologist, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in providing archaeological support including research, field work, and reporting and that understands Federal and State regulations as it pertains to cultural resource
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducting CHRIS record searches and primary/secondary archival research.
- Archaeological survey, testing, monitoring, data recovery, and excavation experience required.
- Map and site recordation on Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) 523 series forms; including site mapping, photography, and descriptions. Familiarity with other state site forms a plus.
- Prepare draft summaries, figures, and graphs by tabulating analytical data, site data, and field notes at the direction of project team.
- Coordinate (as-needed) with state and federal agency and Native American representatives, and/or clients regarding projects.
- Manage small to medium size projects including preparation and management of work breakdown structures, schedule, and budgets
- Assists with project management duties, such as staffing, scheduling, budgeting and allocating resources to meet project requirements.
- Preparing and supporting the proposal development process for new business activities (includes qualifications, scopes of work, and cost estimates).
- Responsible for new bookings with existing and new clients.

- Demonstrates initiative, independent thinking, good problem-solving skills, excellent field skills and educational background in specific discipline
- Possesses strong leadership skills, ability to work independently and as a team member, and exemplary work habits, especially related to safety, common sense, punctuality, and adaptability.
- Professional certifications and association membership participation preferred.
Education and Experience:
- 5 or more years of experience in technical discipline required and 2 years of experience in conducting and/or directing tasks described above.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree – in Archaeology, Anthropology or a closely related field, PhD may substitute for up to 2 years’ experience.
- Registrations and/or listed on local municipalities (county, city) and/or Professional Archaeologists (RPA) status is preferred.
- Experience using GPS technology, Arc GIS.
The position is temp. This work will be done in the office with field visits, as needed, to manage projects.
